Semarang – The Doctoral Program in Economics, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Diponegoro (FEB UNDIP), once again held a Doctoral Dissertation Defense as part of its commitment to producing scholars who contribute to the advancement of economics and societal development. On this occasion, Arif Pujiyono successfully defended his dissertation entitled:
“Theoretical Model of Islamic Intertemporal Consumption in Cash Waqf Payment Behavior.”
The dissertation develops a theoretical model that integrates the concept of intertemporal consumption within Islamic economics to explain individuals’ behavior in contributing to cash waqf. The study enriches the body of knowledge in Islamic economics by linking intertemporal consumption decisions with Islamic values, individual preferences, and the motivation to participate in cash waqf as a form of social investment aimed at achieving long-term public welfare.
Through a conceptual approach and theoretical model development, the research provides a deeper understanding of the factors influencing individuals’ decisions to contribute to cash waqf. The findings are expected to serve as a foundation for the advancement of Islamic economic theory while providing valuable references for waqf management institutions, academics, and policymakers in promoting greater public participation in productive cash waqf initiatives.
Throughout the dissertation process, Arif Pujiyono received academic supervision from Prof. Dr. Fransiscus Xaverius Sugiyanto, M.S. as Promotor (Principal Supervisor) and Dr.agr. Deden Dinar Iskandar, S.E., M.A. as Co-Promotor (Co-Supervisor). Their guidance played a pivotal role in the successful completion of the research and the doctoral defense.
The dissertation defense was conducted in a dynamic, rigorous, and intellectually stimulating academic atmosphere. The doctoral candidate presented the proposed theoretical model and highlighted its scholarly contributions to the development of Islamic economics, particularly in the field of cash waqf. The examination committee provided valuable insights and constructive feedback that further strengthened the quality of the research and its relevance to addressing contemporary challenges in waqf management in Indonesia.
Arif Pujiyono’s achievement in earning a doctoral degree reflects his dedication to advancing economic knowledge, particularly in the fields of Islamic economics and Islamic social finance.
