Doctoral Promotion Examination: Sofyan Hadinata

Semarang – The Doctoral Program in Economics, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Diponegoro University, once again held its Doctoral Promotion Examination as part of its commitment to producing doctoral graduates who possess academic competence, integrity, and tangible contributions to the development of science. On this occasion, Sofyan Hadinata successfully defended his dissertation, entitled “The Role of Financial Report Quality in Mediating the Effect of Ownership Structure on Investment Efficiency.”

The dissertation addressed the important issue of how corporate ownership structure influences investment efficiency, with financial report quality as a mediating variable. This research aims to provide a more comprehensive understanding of the role of financial reporting quality in generating more efficient investment decisions while simultaneously strengthening good corporate governance practices.

In preparing his dissertation, Sofyan Hadinata received guidance from Prof. Drs. Tarmizi Achmad, M.B.A., Ph.D., as his Promoter, and Puji Harto, S.E., Akt., M.Si., Ph.D., as his Co-Promoter. Both provided academic guidance and mentoring throughout the research process and the completion of the dissertation.

The examination took place in the Doctoral Courtroom, Pertamina Hall, in the Dean’s Building of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Diponegoro University, in a solemn atmosphere filled with academic enthusiasm. During the examination, Sofyan Hadinata presented his research findings to the examining team and comprehensively answered various questions and feedback. The scientific discussion that ensued reflected the high academic standards implemented by the Doctoral Program in Economics, Faculty of Economics, Diponegoro University (FEB UNDIP).

The results of this research are expected to contribute to the development of accounting science, particularly in the areas of financial reporting, corporate governance, and investment. In addition to enriching academic studies, the research findings are also expected to serve as a reference for regulators, investors, company management, and practitioners in improving the quality of financial reports to encourage investment efficiency.

Following the examination, a joyful atmosphere was evident during a photo session with family, promoters, co-promoters, and colleagues who were present to offer support. This moment symbolized the success achieved through hard work, dedication, and support from various parties throughout the doctoral study journey.
