Semarang, July 30, 2026 – The Doctoral Program in Economics, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Diponegoro (FEB UNDIP), successfully held a Doctoral Promotion Examination for Nur Kholis, who defended his dissertation entitled “The Role of Managerial Ability and Earnings Management as Mediators in the Relationship between CEO Power and Firm Value.”
The examination took place on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at 10:00 AM WIB in the Pertamina Hall, 3rd Floor, Dean’s Building, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Diponegoro, Tembalang, Semarang. The doctoral defense was attended by academic scholars, examiners, supervisors, colleagues, and family members.
In his dissertation, Nur Kholis examined how CEO Power influences Firm Value, while also investigating the mediating roles of Managerial Ability and Earnings Management. The study contributes to the growing body of literature on corporate governance by providing a deeper understanding of how executive leadership characteristics affect corporate performance and shareholder value. The findings offer valuable insights for academics, practitioners, and policymakers in improving governance mechanisms and organizational effectiveness.
During the defense, the candidate presented the theoretical framework, research methodology, empirical findings, and practical implications of the study. The presentation was followed by a rigorous academic discussion in which the examination committee provided constructive feedback and critical insights. Nur Kholis demonstrated a strong command of the subject matter and successfully addressed the questions raised by the examiners.
The dissertation was completed under the supervision of Prof. Drs. Imam Ghozali, M.Com., Ph.D. as Promotor and Puji Harto, S.E., Akt., M.Si., Ph.D. as Co-Promotor. Their guidance and support played a significant role in the successful completion of the research.
